Fersking på overnatting - on English! Helgekurs august 2024

We organize "Ferskingkurs" for those who want knowledge, security, self-confidence and, not least, inspiration to get out into nature on an overnight trip. The course starts with a theory evening in DNT Oslo's premises in Storgata, before we travel out into the forest and put theory into practice the following weekend. Topics covered during the course include maps and compasses, choosing and setting up a camp site, accommodation in a hammock/tent and in a DNT cabin, "allemannsretten", bonfires, clothing and food on overnight trips. 

ATTENTION! Note that the course starts with a compulsory theory evening from 18:00-21:00 on Tuseday 27th of August. 

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE COURSE

Time and place: The course consists of a theory evening on Tuseday the 27th of August at 18:00-21:00 + two days course with accommodation over the weekend 31 August - 1 september.

Theory evening: Tuseday 27 August at 18:00-21:00, and will be held in DNT Oslo og Omegn's premises in Storgata 3. This is an important part of the course where all participants must attend.

The weekend course: Saturday 31 and Sunday 1 September with accommodation in Vestmarka, with attendance at Kattås. More information about attendance will be given on the theory evening tuseday 27 of august. 

Food: There will be a joint dinner that we will prepare together. So please let us know in the registration if you have any food allergies or other necessary adaptations that we must take into account. 
The food purchased by the course holder will be distributed among all participants; therefore, make sure you have some free space in your bag, about 1.5 kilos. Participants must bring their own snacks, breakfast and lunch for both days.

Gear: You will receive a participant letter and a packing list for equipment approx. one week before departure. The packing list will be reviewed on the theory evening and if you are unsure about your own hiking equipment, this is a great opportunity to bring it along. 
It is possible to borrow some equipment from DNT Oslo such as a hammock, sleeping bag, large rucksack and clothing, but there is a limited selection so this must be stated in the registration. The gear must be washed after use and returned to DNT Oslo as soon as possible. Borrowing equipment can be picked up at Storgata 3, between 16.30 and 17.00, before the theory evening on 27 September. If you need to borrow more equipment, this can be done by contacting your local lending center BUA.

More information: Note that we will be outside all the time during the weekend course, so it is important to have warm clothes for this.
